Join Roma’s Easter in the Country Helicopter Ride and Discover Carnarvon Ranges Tour. Share the experience with loved ones and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Discover the hidden wonders of the Carnarvon Ranges from the heights of a bird’s eye view from Roma during Roma’s Easter in the Country.

You will never forget seeing these historic ranges with a 45 - minute helicopter ride over the Carnarvon Ranges and an ecologic tour from the ground with a local expert.

You will leave Roma by air and head out to the Carnarvon Ranges via helicopter.

From the air you will see an oasis in the semi-arid heart of Central Queensland and appreciate the environmental and cultural values in the landscape, see cycad-filled gorges and admire rare trees and wildflowers. Here, towering white sandstone cliffs form a spectacular steep-sided gorge with narrow, vibrantly - coloured and lush side gorges. Carnarvon fan palms, ancient cycads, ferns, flowering shrubs and gum trees line the main gorge. Grassy open forest grows on the cliff tops.

Next, you will join the ground tour to explore the area further and be at one with the dramatic landscape.

From the ground, explore the secluded gorges of the Carnarvon Ranges, Aboriginal rock art, dinosaur plants, and enchanting wildlife with exclusive access to the 71,000 acre cattle station, ‘Wallaroo’ for the remainder of the day.

A wealth of cultural and natural heritage lies within this special place. The gorge is home to a range of significant plant and animal species, many of them relics of cooler, wetter times. Rock art on overhanging sandstone is an ancient reminder of Aboriginal people’s long and continuing connection with the gorge. Ochre stencils, rock engravings and freehand paintings include some of the finest Aboriginal rock imagery in Australia.

You will spend this magical day in the Carnarvon Ranges with an experienced ecologist, discovering hidden wildlife and plants.

Your ground tour involves a short (approximately 1 kilometre) to medium length (up to 5 kilometre) casual walks. Walking will be on established property tracks, cattle pads or through the bush.

After your ground excursion, relax and return to Roma via helicopter.
